Type of shrub/tree tree traditionally used for firemaking.
A small tree to 10m with thick leathery leaves. The abundant white flowers are in clusters. The fruit are black and about 9 mm long (and they are very popular with bellbird). Naturally occurs in lowland forests thrroughout NZ.
